SSTG Data Protection & Privacy Policy.
Introduction:
This policy applies to all Officer Trainees undertaking full time college study as part of their cadet training programme, whose training is managed by the SSTG.
Recruitment Candidates:
Candidates applying for sponsorship are required to provide a range of personal information at the recruitment stage and further additional information and documentation if invited for interview.
SSTG take the security of any information or documentation supplied in support of an application.
All original documentation supplied during the recruitment process by candidates who are unsuccessful in the process will be destroy at the conclusion of the process and no copies will be retained.
For statistical purposes a database of inquires received is maintained on an internal secure Management Information System.
Personal Information:
For candidates who commence training under the auspices of the SSTG, information about the individual and the training they undertake is maintained on an internal secure Management Information System.
Such information may be shared with the Sponsoring Company, who may be located outside the EU.
Records will be maintained for between 7 and 10 years as required by various government bodies such as HMRC (accounting records) and DFT (Grant Funding records).
Government Statistics:
This is to inform you, in line with our obligations under data protection law, that we will be sharing some of your personal data with the MCA to improve the administration of the SMarT scheme where the training you are undertaking is supported by SMarT funding.
Ship Safe Training Group Ltd have been assured by MCA that the sharing of this data is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests as a SMarT training provider.
MCA will use your personal data as necessary to carry out their public task of administering claims for the government funded support for maritime training (SMarT) scheme.
The following personal data of yours will be shared with MCA:
- Your Name
- Your Date of Birth
- Your Place of Birth
- Your contact details including your Address and postcode
- Your Gender
- Your college
- The Client company you work for
MCA will keep your personal information for 10 years from the date that SMarT funding was last granted in relation to you, after which time it will be deleted.
MCA will not share your personal information with third parties to use for a purpose that is not compatible with the SMarT scheme, unless required or permitted to do so by law.
MCA will securely store your personal information in the UK. They do not routinely transfer data overseas but when this is necessary, they will ensure that they have the appropriate safeguards in place.
MCA will not use automated decision making or profiling in using your data,
Your rights: The UK GDPR sets out a number of rights which individuals have over their personal data, allowing you to request copies of your personal data and, in certain circumstances, to object to it being used for a certain purpose, or to have it deleted or modified.
