SSTG commences Recruitment for September 2017

Applications for sponsorship to support your Ships Officer training commencing in September 2017 are now open.

SSTG offers sponsorship for around 150 individuals each year to train as a Deck, Engineer or Electro-Technical Officer, and we are now seeking applications from individuals aspiring to become a Ships Officer.

You must hold the required academic qualifications, or expect to achieve them this summer. There are two entry levels - one for candidates holding A Levels or Highers, and one for candidates holding GCSEs or National 5s. We accept applications based on estimated grades, so any students taking further exams this summer should apply now stating estimated grades where required.

We currently have sponsorship opportunities for training to be undertaken on any of the MNTB/MCA approved programmes, although the number of places at the smaller colleges is extremely limited so early application is highly recommended.

The sponsorship includes the payment of your tuition fees, provision of the sea service required as an integral part of your practical training, and the full support of one of our team of experienced Cadet Training Officers.

Your training lasts approximately three years and leads to the award of Professional Certificate of Competency which qualifies you as either a Deck, Engineer or Electro-Technical Officer. The programme will also include the awarding of a Foundation Degree, Scottish Professional Diploma, or HNC/HND for candidates entering with GCSEs / National 5s.

Full details of the training can be found elsewhere on this site.

Application must be made on-line or contact the SSTG for more information.
